Intended Audience: Civil, Building & Wastewater Engineers.
PDH UNITS: 5
The course is designed with the outlines of Introduction, Coagulation/Flocculation, Softening, Reactors, Mixing and Flocculation, Sedimentation, Filtration, Disinfection, Adsorption, Water Plant Waste Management. Â This course is suggested for civil engineers, environmental engineers, chemical engineers, and water treatment plant managers and operators. In this course we will define several terms related to water chemistry, reaction kinetics, water quality, and water quality standards, Â coagulation/flocculation, water softening process, sedimentation, filtrations, as well as design the unit process for water treatment. We will also analyze the basic considerations of unit processes design such as sedimentation tank, coagulation/flocculation dose, softening dose, etc. and work out a few simple design problems using widely used equations from books and FE Exam Handbook.
Learning Objective:
At the successful conclusion of this course, you will learn the following knowledge and skills:- explain the water chemistry;
- discuss the reaction kinetics, water quality, and water quality standards;
- describe the concepts of coagulation/flocculation, water softening process, sedimentation, filtrations, and adsorption;
- design the unit processes for water treatment.
