Intended Audience: civil engineers, environmental engineers, chemical engineers, and water treatment plant managers and operators.
Credits: 2 PDH Units
When: Thursday 11/21. 10-12 pm EST
In this Webinar we will define several terms related to water chemistry, reaction kinetics, water quality, and water quality standards, coagulation/flocculation, water softening process, sedimentation, filtrations, as well as design the unit process for water treatment. We will also analyze the basic considerations of unit processes design such as sedimentation tank, coagulation/flocculation dose, softening dose, etc. and work out a few simple design problems using widely used equations from books and FE Exam Handbook.
Date: Thursday. November 21. 10 am - 12 pm EST Credits: 2 PDH Units
Learning Objectives:
After completing this course, the individual will be able to:- explain the water chemistry;
- discuss the reaction kinetics, water quality, and water quality standards;
- describe the concepts of coagulation/flocculation, water softening process, sedimentation, filtrations, and adsorption;
- design the unit processes for water treatment.

Covered a lot for a basics course, but well organized and explained. Very good bullet points, tables, diagrams, and photos. For me, it was a GREAT refresher. Dr. M. A. Karim, P.E. explained the material well. The software used to register and link in attendees, broadcast presentation, conduct testing, and issue completion certificate, all worked very well. My only problem was the clarity of Dr. Karim’s voice; likely a microphone issue since I tried good quality speakers, and four different headphones, with little difference between them.
