Dr. Doughty is a graduate of the the University of Texas at Austin where he received the Bachelor of Engineering Science, Master of Science (ME) and PhD (ME) degrees. He is a registered Professional Engineer (Retired) in the states of Texas and Wisconsin. His 45 year career has been a mix of engineering academic positions, and professional practice. He has
been Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the UW-Platteville, MSOE, and WV-Tech. His professional experience includes Hamilton Watch, Bethlehem Steel, Stewart & Stevenson Services, Southwest Research, and others. As a private consultant, he has worked for several IC engine manufacturers, paper and web handling machine builders, aerospace manufacturers, and other heavy machinery companies. He is the author of a number of
journal publications, conference presentations, and company engineering reports. He has been a member of SAE, SNAME, and is a Life Member of ASME.
