Intended Audience: mechanical engineers
PDH UNITS: 3
Carriers’ Technical Development Program is a review of basic engineering principals and system applications in the HVAC industry. The topics to be covered include: Rooftop Units Level I – Constant Volume, Rooftop Units Level II – VAV Rooftops, Commercial Split Systems, Central Station Air Handlers, Air Cooled Chillers, Water Cooled Chillers, Psychrometrics, Load Estimating, Duct Design, Water Piping Design, Refrigeration Piping Design, and Refrigeration Cycle.
Learning Objectives
At the successful conclusion of this course, you’ll be able to identify and discuss:- Be able to plot two points on the psychrometric chart and determine the other three characteristics of the air at those conditions.
- Determine the mixed air conditions of a cooling coil from indoor conditions and required OA volumes at design conditions.
- Understand the air treatment process flows on the psychometric chart (heating cooling, humidification, dehumidification).
- Understand the difference between relative humidity and specific humidity.
- Select and use the correct psychrometric chart for altitude.
- Understand how to determine the sensible capacity, latent capacity and total capacity of a heating/cooling process.
- How to calculate the leaving air temperature of an evaporative cooler (and capacity based on CFM).
- Understand what a cooling coil bypass factor is and how it is calculated.
Once completed, your order and certificate of completion will be available in your profile when you’re logged in to the site.
