When: Thursday 2/27. 10-12 pm EST
This 2-hour presentation explores recent trends in electricity use that will impact the engineering design process and might even be of interest to engineers to help evaluate whether or not to invest in any of the products discussed for personal use. This webinar is designed for engineers, architects and contractors who are interested in the direction the electrical part of their business may be headed over the next decade or so. It focuses on the effect of electric vehicles becoming commonplace and the options for providing electricity for the vehicles. It also explores the real possibility that electric vehicles will be used to store electrical energy for use by the grid at critical times. In addition, it deals with the complexities behind the smart home (home automation) movement by discussing the pros and cons of various communication protocols when used with a wide variety of home automation products. Selection options are presented for many of the currently available devices. Finally, the advent of the powerwall is discussed in terms of its effect on standby power systems and grid stabilization. Several design examples are included.

Very informative and well presented
Good course. Very informative
Informative course on EVs and home automation. Might have been more weighting on NEC codes than necessary, but overall it was a good course
For a short (2-hour) course, this covered a good bit of ground. Mr. Messenger presented the material clearly, and the subject scope and allotted time were a good fit. A good smattering of humor also helped keep one focused.
Very informative–answered many questions
