This course is based on the publication, Fall Protection in Construction. In the construction industry in the U.S., falls are the leading cause of worker fatalities. Falls are complex, and are often the result of many factors acting together. It is important to train managers and employees on how to identify, avoid, and remedy falling risks in the workplace. When employees are trained in fall protection, the potential for a fatalities and the liability to the employer are both decreased. Through the completion of this course, an employer, manager or employee can reduce the risk of falling hazards. This course provides the most important recommendations and how to implement them. With the proper application of these procedures, as well as consistent enforcement practices, employees will know what to do to avoid falling hazards. This guide is intended to be consistent with all existing OSHA standards therefore, if an area of this course is considered by the reader to be inconsistent with a standard, then the OSHA standard should be followed.
