Credits: 2 PDH Units
In this online engineering PDH course, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Bridge Safety Program is described. The Surface Transportation Assistance Act of 1978 requires that all reportable bridges must be inventoried and inspected according to the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS). Under these standards, each federal agency is required to record and maintain structure inventory and appraisal data on each bridge and report the data to FHWA upon request. The USACE Bridge Safety Program facilitates compliance with the NBIS for reportable bridges and ensures that appropriate evaluations are conducted and restrictions implemented to ensure public safety. This course is based on Regulation No. 1110-2-111, Engineering and Design, USACE Bridge Safety Program, 31 January 2020.
