Pumps, Fans and Cooling towers are used in most of industries and buildings. The present course focuses on energy saving opportunities in Pumps, Fans and Cooling towers. It covers from fundamentals like types of pump, fans and cooling towers , different systems used in industries for different applications, selection of proper system, modification in case of oversized systems and other energy saving opportunities However the course is helpful to Mechanical and Electrical engineers, it is also helpful to engineers dealing in plants or involved with building management systems. It covers potential for energy saving in new and existing pump, fan and cooling towers. Pump, fan and cooling towers consume as large as 20% of world’s total energy and manufacturing industries use around 45% of total electricity for these systems and hence they are first targets for improving efficiency. Major energy saving potential exists in the selection of new or modifications of existing systems. Like other engineering equipment, energy saving is possible right at design and selection stage. However, if it is missed at design stage, there are some other methods by which power consumption is reduced and they are discussed in this course.
