When: Tuesday 9/20. 2 - 4 pm ET
This 2-hour interactive presentation is based on Volume 2, Chapter 12, of the National Renewable Energy Laboratories Renewable Electricity Futures Study of 2012, edited by M.M. Hand, G. Porro, T. Mai, M. Meshek and D. Sandor of NREL, J. M. Reilly of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, S. Baldwin of the USDOE, E. DeMeo, Renewable Energy Consulting Services, Inc. and D. Argent of the Joint Institute for Strategic Energy Analysis. It reviews past, present and possible future methods of energy storage that will be necessary to meet the goal of 80% of U.S. 2050 electrical energy production by renewables. In the 10 years since 2012, excellent progress has occurred in the implementation of the study conclusions, as shown by recent updates to the 2012 material. References:

Great course. Covered a lot of material very well.
I don’t get into energy storage devices much…my job simply doesn’t address that. So I found much of what was presented fascinating. I learned a great deal and will pursue elements of what I learned for both professional (education) and personal reasons.
Brought me up to speed on several developments in the last few years. Good explanation of fundamentals with updates to the 2012 REFS data.
Thorough and comprehensive for good introductory level for everyone
Course was very well done. It had a lot of good information i will be able to use.
As someone installing solar and storage this was a very basic course which I unfortunately did not learn much. The course would be good for those with very little background in the technology. But if you are already following I would not take the course.
Prof. Messenger is very knowledgeable and keenly in tune with the state of energy storage technology. His responses to questions were succinct and to the point. I would recommend attending this webinar to colleagues.
Excellent course! Provides a comprehensive survey of current storage technologies for renewable energy systems and applications as well as the trade-offs and design considerations. Will definitely take more courses on renewable energy. Great spring board for further studies on renewable energy and energy storage applications. Thank you!
Excellent overview of the renewable energy technologies. Professor Messenger was interesting to listen to and was very forthcoming with answers to questions and his views.
Wished that some of the information had been updated from the 2012 report
