Uncover the best practices to maintain the integrity of coastal buildings, including their envelopes and electrical equipment. For maximum performance of a building in a coastal region, a building structure and envelope (i.e., exterior doors, windows, skylights, exterior wall coverings, soffits, roof systems, and attic vents) should resist deterioration, especially when a building is located on or near the coast. Significant degradation by corrosion, wood decay, termite attack, or weathering increases the building’s vulnerability to damage from natural hazards. This course provides guidance on the maintenance of a coastal building's structure, envelope, and electrical equipment in order to increase longevity and prevent deterioration.
