The function of a pump is to transfer energy from a power source to a fluid thereby creating flow or simply creating greater pressures on a fluid. Pumps are installed in water wells to lift the water in the well to the ground surface and deliver it to the point of use. A variety of pumps are available to remove water from wells. There are several basic types of pumps that will be presented in this technical paper.
