Description
The approaches to mitigating the effects on assets from any of the tactics described are referred to as design strategies. It is not intended for planners to apply these design strategies in a detailed manner, but planners should understand how the design strategies affect the designs of facilities. With that understanding, planners can explain the basis for the costs associated with protecting against a given tactic. This discussion, therefore, describes the design strategies as well as summarizes the likely impacts on construction that will result from the application of those strategies. There are two levels of design strategies associated with each tactic, the general design strategy and the specific design strategy. Both levels of design strategies will be described for each tactic.
