David Hrivnak – Retired Engineer
Dave earned a BS in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Va. Tech and an MBA from ETSU. He retired after 34 years with Eastman Chemical. He now works part time for EcoLogical Energy Systems designing and selling solar systems. In his spare time Dave actively finds ways to live sustainably. He has embarked on various environmental projects including: Designing and building two passive solar homes, built an all-electric Jeep & Miata, and modified his Prius and Chevy Avalanche into plug-in hybrid cars. He powers his home and his vehicles from rooftop solar. He published a book titled Driving to Net 0 – Stories of Hope for a Carbon Free Future.
Dave is active as a Boy Scout leader, Habitat for Humanity volunteer, and mentor with First Robotics program. Dave led the energy task force at church to reduce costs and help the environment. His home has been on the National Solar Tour of Homes, and he has coordinated numerous National Drive Electric events.
