This Webinar will address the way I which a structure can be assessed for continued integrity. The causes of a reduced integrity will be addressed and the ways in which small deficiencies become larger will be assessed. The visual signs of vulnerability, warning, damage, defect, distress and deterioration are considered and defined here. The demand on the structure and its parts is compared with the capacity of the structure. The use of load testing – both in the laboratory and in situ as well as holistic methods will be presented. Finally advice is given on the assessment of a structure into categories of watching, advisory and warning levels.
