This online course provides a foundational understanding of dispute resolution and negotiation in the context of engineering and construction contracts.
Every project rests on a network of contractual obligations that define performance expectations, liability, timelines, compensation, and deliverables. However, despite detailed documentation, disputes are not uncommon. This course addresses the causes of contractual conflict, formal and informal resolution processes, and strategic negotiation methods within the bounds of U.S. legal frameworks and professional ethical standards. Understanding dispute resolution and negotiation methods is important to help prevent, manage, and resolve disputes effectively, while protecting public interest and maintaining contractual integrity.
This course is applicable to engineers across multiple disciplines, particularly those involved in project management, procurement, or stakeholder coordination where contractual negotiation and dispute resolution are critical to successful project execution.
