Description
This course will provide you with an introduction to the principles of cathodic protection for underground and underwater structures. You will be introduced to the physics and chemistry of the corrosion process and how to mitigate the corrosion using cathodic protection techniques.
Course Outline
1. INSTALLATION AND CONSTRUCTION PRACTICES
2. SYSTEM CHECKOUT AND INITIAL ADJUSTMENTS
3. MAINTAINING CATHODIC PROTECTION SYSTEMS
This course will give professional engineers and others an introduction to techniques and methods used to construct and maintain sacrificial anode and impressed current cathodic protection systems.
- Learn the factors to consider in constructing cathodic protection systems;
- Learn the importance of pipeline coatings;
- Learn about special considerations where pipeline casings are necessary;
- Find out about factors to consider when foreign pipeline crossings are encountered;
- Learn the proper techniques for installing electrical isolating flanges;
- Learn about impressed current anode installations.
